I have always been interested in the reasons for the decline and fall of Empires ever since I read Gibbon's "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire". The world of Glorantha has two great such Empires within it. The Lunar empire around 1620 is at it's pinacle and at the start of the point of it's fall. The Hero Wars that encapsulates this decline is well documented. What is not so well documented is the fall of the other great Empire some 600 years earlier.

The Empire of the Wyrm's Friends may not even be the true name of the Empire, and later records indeed give it several names. However this is the most common name given to the Empire that spanned about 400 years of Gloranthan history, and saw the coming together of man, beast and dragonewt in a single unified empire. The reasons for the fall of the Empire were later guessed at, but much of the documentary evidence was destroyed.

The Empire became increasingly corrupt and after 1000 saw internal rebellions as well as invasions from the outside. This website is dedicated to roleplaying in the time between the start of this discontent until the eventual fall of the Empire in 1042. It may also cover the evnts after the fall up to the invasion of the Invincible Golden Horde in 1100 and the eventual extermination of humanity in Dragon Pass in the Dragonkill war of 1120.

The Living Dragon Society and it's formation is a key part of the campaign I am looking to run. Details of this organisation will be included on this site, but this is by no means the official Issaries interpretation of this organisation. I hope you like the ideas I have for this and anyone wishing to can freely adapt the material I present here for your own campaigns and enjoyment.
